On March 13, members of ULEI from the B-specific consortium participated in the minisymposium “Novel therapies in autoimmune diseases” at KU Leuven, organized by the TOLERATE consortium.

During the symposium, Amanda Foks provided an insightful overview of the function and therapeutic potential of age-associated B cells in cardiovascular disease. Building on this, Anna Witteveen presented her work within the B-specific consortium, focusing on the phenotypic characterization of age-associated B cells in atherosclerosis. In addition, Romy DIjkland shared her research on investigating and enhancing regulatory T cells in atherosclerosis, while Jill de Mol highlighted how therapeutic modulation using rapamycin can attenuate inflammation in aged atherosclerotic mice.

It was an inspiring day of scientific exchange, showcasing innovative approaches toward understanding and treating autoimmune-related and cardiovascular disease, and strengthening collaborations within the field.
