Expertise, Role and Activity

At EMC, the Rotterdam Study, an observational population-based cohort study, started in 1990 and contains >17.000 individuals. The study aims to unravel etiology, preclinical course, natural history and potential targets for intervention for chronic diseases, such as atherosclerosis, in mid- and late-life.

EMC is an essential consortium partner to study biomarkers for CVD, as all relevant clinical parameters and blood/serum samples from a large general population cohort taken over the years are available, required for WP3, in close collaboration with ULUND.

With the Rotterdam study, B-specific consortium will be able to critically assess the predictive values of potential biomarkers for atherosclerosis.

The team at EMC is composed of 3 PIs, their expertise is vital for the execution of WP4 of B-specific.
